Ansh Kumar’s practice centres on redefining the potential of childlike play and collective, cumulative action. Keeping interactivity – touching, blowing, moving, listening – at its core, he creates sculpture, installation, ceramics, new media and performative drawings that treat the viewer as an active co‑author rather than a passive spectator. His projects often unfold in public or semi-public space, where a simple gesture becomes a shared event.

Nostalgic objects such as toys and vintage technologies are recurring protagonists, re‑engineered to confront the viewer into unexpected invitations to act. His visual language features colourful, bold, iconic, headless fictional characters that stand in for bodies and publics rather than individuals. Through them, he addresses urgent socio‑political narratives: class and labour, the climate crisis, children of conflict, and the politics of accessibility and care. Play, in his work, is not escapist but a way of rehearsing responsibility. His interest lies in the aftermath of an artwork through collective creation and curiosity.

Ansh co-founded 'Tiny Farm Lab' with his brother—where they hand-sculpted a mud house with the help of 100 volunteers from around 18 countries.

Ansh was recently awarded one of the two commissioned artist for India Art Fair Young Collectors’ Programme 2025 and he has Exhibited at Miami Art Basel, SaLadakh(southeast Asias highest land art exhibit), Museum night at LTK4 Cologne and Ars electronica, New York. He has collaborated with Snapchat, Meta, and Adobe, and has been awarded the Adobe Mentorship and the ArtsHelp Grant for climate-sensitive art.
